Course Description
This two-day program will consist of lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on simulations designed for the clinician looking to implement surgical implant placement into their practice. It is an introductory course to build foundational knowledge in diagnosing and treatment planning for long-term dental implant success in the single posterior site. CBCT evaluation, implant components and armamentarium, osteotomy preparation, surgical motor and kit details will all be discussed. The restorative process will be broken down in both digital and analogue workflows.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the different clinical presentations for future implant placement
- Single posterior tooth replacement from A to Z
- Implant nomenclature, armamentarium and parts and pieces
- Analog/digital restorative workflow and lab communication
- Principles of osteotomy preparation, surgical motor setup, hydration, RPM’s
- Surgical kit setup and best practices
- Socket preservation, bone and membrane options
- Cemented versus screw-retained restorations
- Engaging versus non-engaging abutments
- Crestal bone stability and implant longevity
- Suture materials and sizes
Hands-on workshop
- Live suturing demonstration (four necessary knots to know) and exercise.
- Socket preservation demonstration, membrane and suturing.
- Osteotomy preparation on dental model, mandibular first molar with Gen5 implant placement. Both free-hand and guided.
