Course Description
The full-arch curriculum will be a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning program designed to teach the discerning clinician the principles of treating the person, not just the teeth. It will focus on a facially generated treatment plan philosophy regarding tooth position to dictate alveoplasty and implant platform position based on prosthetic space requirements for long-term success. The program will introduce new digital tools that can streamline fundamentals, increase communication and expedite prosthetics.
Learning Objectives
- Understand ideal tooth position relative to the face as a starting point for diagnosing and treatment planning full arch appliances
- Review the literature regarding vertical space requirements for different full arch implant supports prosthetics
- Discuss biomechanics as it relates to fixed versus removable appliances in both the maxillary and mandibular arches
- Learn the Lips-Teeth-Ridge classification system as a guidepost for maxillary arch treatment planning and risk assessment
- Discuss free-hand versus surgical templates and different support strategies for edentulous arches and terminal dentitions
- Introduction to full face soft-tissue scanning as it relates to the dental avatar for patient education, lab communication, diagnosis and treatment planning
- Evaluate Intra-oral scanning versus intra-oral photogrammetry accuracy on multi-unit abutments
Hands-on workshop
- Full facial scanning demonstration and live patient avatar creation incorporating CBCT and intra-oral scanning for alveoplasty evaluation, surgical guide fabrication, and final restorations
- Intra-oral photogrammetry live demo, software live demo, discussion and Q&A
- Full arch implant osteotomy preparation, MUA placement, temporary cylinder/denture conversion, palate and flange removal, prosthetic delivery to model
- All on X demo for 3D printed full arch prosthetics, straight to MUA, material selection, lab communication for 24 post-surgery delivery
