Beyond Implant Essentials

Course Description

Beyond Implant Essentials is two days of building upon your current understanding of posterior implant dentistry. The program will consist of exquisitely documented cases, from start to finish, of routinely challenging clinical dilemmas to increase clinical competency. Case studies of quadrant socket preservation, osseodensification, and crestal sinus lifts will be detailed from initial presentation to final restoration. Free-handed versus guided surgery will be evaluated in multiple cases as well as pros and cons of immediate/delayed implant placement. Cases will be shown in both digital and analog workflows for comparison. Multiple demonstrations and hands-on tabletop exercises will be completed.

Learning Objectives

• Diagnosis and treatment plan multiple adjacent posterior implants
• Evaluate osteotomy preparation using traditional end-cutting drills versus densifying drills
• Understand implant supported bridges, prosthetic material selection, abutment design, engaging versus non-engaging abutments
• Evaluating and managing compromised ridges at time of implant placement
• Explore immediate posterior implant placement, socket management
• Review osseodensification and crestal sinus lifts
• Discuss horizontal ridge augmentation, crestal and remote incisions, techniques, literature, pros and cons
• Demystify socket preservation in compromised sites, bony defects, large infections, granulation tissue management
• Analyze CBCT’s, software overview, digital treatment planning
• Implement 3D printing, discuss options for hardware, printing materials (hard and soft tissue), digital implant analogs, scan-bodies

Hands-on workshop

• Intra-oral scanning demonstration for surgical guide fabrication and final restorative management. IOS versus intra-oral photogrammetry, A to Z
• Multiple osteotomy preparation on models, free handed and guided for accuracy, analysis and comparison
